Entitled woman steals gym member's squash court reservation, then acts like she has been wronged: 'She rewrote reality and still acted like you were the problem'

What are the ethics behind reserved spots at the gym?

There are plenty of differing opinions on this matter, but in this case, it's hard to argue with the facts of the squash court rules. This gym member reserved the court for 7:00 PM and, upon arrival at around 6:58 PM, she saw that another person was using the court. Of course, the member waited until it was officially time for her reservation before saying something, in case the other person was just finishing up and was planning to leave at 7:00 PM on the dot.

Well, it turns out that the other person was not planning to leave, and she didn't exactly take the news that she was being booted off the court well either. The gym member with the proper reservation related her account of what happened on Reddit's r/EntitledPeople subreddit community, and was met with mutually commiserative frustrations from other folks who had more or less been in similar situations.

There is something bizarre about decorum in the gym, and that, despite clear rules and regulations, the most egotistical members (of which there are always few) decide that they are above policy. Such individuals should not be humored. More often than not, these folks behave in this manner because they have previously gotten away with it, or no one told them otherwise.

In this instance, we are pretty certain that this lady knew what she was doing. Her defensiveness and resentment speak volumes. If she really did not know about the rules, she would have been apologetic. Instead, she was grasping at straws, trying to find something she could use in her defense to make herself seem like the victim here. Because the facts were not on her side, she ended up opting to critique the other person's attitude. 

Anyone who has encountered an entitled person and has called that person on their nonsense when they are out of line knows that a common response is denial, deflection, and anger. These folks cannot handle being wrong, and when they have no legitimate reason to defend their actions, all they can do is turn into a child and throw a tantrum. Unfortunately, the culture today seems to condone this behavior. Regardless of whether or not we're on the squash court or elsewhere in our lives, it's up to decent, rational individuals to tell these delusional figures with "main character" energy that they need to follow the rules just like everyone else!
